ACNE have just had their first outing in New York with the presentation of the label’s Spring/Summer 2012 Resort collection which again successfuly navigates the space between high fashion and streetwear.
Known for their multi-media approach that began life as a collective, ACNE had been well entrenched in rock chic androgyny but for the last few collections the company has been expressing a new emphasis on silhouette, one that Creative Director Jonny Johansson describes as “interrupted volume”. Pencil-skirts are layered over billowing taffeta trousers, floor length dresses are restricted by 90’s blue denim jackets
Referencing many of the trends that have been seen over many of the Northern Hemisphere collections of late, Block colours in 70’s hues, a more lady-like silhouette, ACNE manages to offer something different by giving it an air of iciness that wouldn’t look out of place on a Hitchcock set.
