Sister Rosetta Tharpe is Boss. She's the lady that inspired Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Elvis & Johnny Cash to name but a few. Watching her videos you can see why. Mad blues gospel fusion, flamboyance & mega voice to boot. Mr Dylan himself put it best when he said “She was a big, good-looking woman and divine, not to mention sublime and splendid. She was a powerful force of nature–a guitar-playing, singing evangelist.” Sister Rosetta is the kind of musical idol we could do with today. Spare me the sympathy for pop crooners & cocaine users like who apparently in confession are the guiding light for our tweens & teens alike. Like, ew.
