I found Freaks and Geeks at a dark time in my life, and it saved me. I was disillusioned. It was winter, I had a cold I couldn't shake, I couldn't sleep at night for fear a mouse had moved into my bedroom and I'd resorted to watching endless episodes of Grey's Anatomy to pass the hours. Then, I was given a boxset. The box set to end all box sets. Freaks and Geeks. It first aired back in 2000, lasting only 18 episodes (a tragedy) and launched the careers of some of our most favourite people in the world, ever: Jason Segel, Seth Rogen, James Franco, Busy Phillips, Leslie Mann and was even produced by none other than comedy man Judd Apatow. It was the giant two fingers to Dawson's Creek, repping the alt high school life. So if you've not watched it, get on it. Here are just a few reasons why (be warned, videos will be mild spoiler alerts):
Baby Jason Segel. Lovable pot head, drummer and disco damcer:
Plus also MASSIVE BABE:
Just. Perfect.
Almost too perfect:
Baby Seth Rogen. A lot like grown up Seth Rogen. But with extra cherub.
Baby James Franco. Oh goodness. You can almost forgive him everything:
The three glorious stooges:
And everything about Martin Starr.
All up, it's full of truisms:
Basically, just this guy. Forever:
